Gardening With Heart – From Backyard to Market

I’m Brian Hogsett, the gardener behind KC Backyard Garden Guy. What started as a backyard passion project in Overland Park, Kansas has blossomed into a mission: to grow rare and flavorful open-pollinated vegetables, share honest tips, and connect with fellow growers. Every seed, every story, and every harvest is rooted in my love for soil, sustainable gardening, and community.

In 2025, I’m growing over 270 tomato plants from 147 unique varieties, along with 40+ types of sweet and spicy peppers—all nurtured using organic methods in raised beds and cattle panel trellises. I share planting guides, companion planting tips, rare seed spotlights, and honest product recommendations right here and on my social media channels.
